Lite On DVD player - great choice
Strengths: Great value for the money and always reliable.
Weakness: somewhat loud at high speeds
Lite-on makes great CD and DVD players for the money. This DVD player is slightly loud when reading at high speeds but certainly tolerable. DVD-ROM reads CD's at 48x rather than 52x from dedicated CD drives. Since most graphic intense games come on DVD now (rather than CD) I see no weakness with the 8% speed difference anymore.

Strengths: inexpensive and reliable
Weakness: slightly noisy
Great DVD drive to aid in copying information from disc to disc. The LiteOn 16xDVD EIDE Drive is inexpensive and runs well. With all these DVD drives you will get some noise at full speed but it's really note that that bad. This product has worked well for me and has given me no problems.

There aren't much differences between DVD-ROM drives, they all read DVDs at 16X and CDs at 48X or 52X so I bought this one for my home theater PC based on its ability to change its region codes easily by available software. I purchase lots of DVD's from different regions (UK, Asia and Australia so this ability was very important to me. It works great, and has yet to give me any problems.
